New Regional Park Coming To Gilbert

NEW REGIONAL PARK COMING TO GILBERT

Gilbert city Engineers have finally unveiled the design for a 272 acre park in Gilbert!  This park is destined to be on the same level as the Indian Bend Wash in Scottsdale or Kiwanis Park in Tempe.  The park is slated to be built on raw land at Higley Rd & Queen Creek Rd extending south towards Chandler Heights in South Gilbert. 

The park is made up of 3 distinct uses: 30,000 sq ft of Commercial space; Soccer, Baseball and Softball fields; and finally a rec center with a community pool!

City officials expect the park to cost around $174 million and could be open to the public as early as 2018!  The park is expected to be completed in 4 phases which may look like this:
  • Phase 1: Lake, playground, splash pad, pickleball courts, tennis courts, sand-volleyball courts, turf area, restroom building, parking, infrastructure improvements.
  • Phase 2: Recreation and aquatic center, parking, road work, disc-golf course, skate park, bike park, amphitheater, multiuse path, trails, basketball courts.
  • Phase 3: Sports fields, amphitheater, playground, ramadas, multiuse path and trail extensions, ropes course, food-truck plaza, great lawn, restroom buildings, road work.
  • Phase 4: Multiuse center, retail, parking.
