Protect Your Home From Freezing Temps

Wow!  This weekend is predicted to be brutally cold, our Gilbert forecast is supposed to get down to 24 degrees!   

Homes in Arizona are not built to withstand super cold temps into the 20s.  As a home owner or just someone who enjoys hot water In the morning, precautionary measures need to be taken for your house and plants.

  • Protect pipes exposed to the elements by covering them with blankets, tubes from Home Depot or wrap plastic bags or trash bags around pipes with tape.
  • Unhook hoses from spigots
  • Turn a faucet on to a drip, running water will help keep the water inside pipes from freezing
  • Keep the pool pump on for the might to keep the water movement going.
  • Cover your sensitive plants or spray them with anti freezing spray also found at Home Depot or local nurseries.
  • Bring pets inside, especially the smaller breeds.  They struggle to keep warm and the extra help from sweaters is great thie time of year.
